24 / 06/ 2020 - Pantomime 2020 Postponement Announcement

After careful consideration and in light of the most recent guidelines issued by the Scottish Government, it is with enormous regret that we have made the difficult decision to postpone the 2020 pantomime, Beauty and the Beast. However we are not saying goodbye completely, oh no we’re not! The pantomime will be back for our Christmas season in 2021.

We have made this decision after carefully assessing the options open to us in relation to social distancing within our venue as well as the financial risk for us and our producers, but most importantly we believe that you need to experience a pantomime in a packed auditorium with a large audience full of families who can interact with the actors on stage, as that is the beauty and tradition of pantomime. If we are unable to achieve that this year then we would not be doing the artform justice. Therefore, postponing until next year feels like the most sensible, fair and safe option.

“It was with a heavy heart that we have had to take the difficult decision to postpone this year’s pantomime. We understand the impact this will have; however, the safety of our customers along with that of the cast and our staff is our main priority. Please be assured this decision was not taken lightly and we are currently researching any and all opportunities to provide another form of festive entertainment.” Lesley O’Hare, Culture and Libraries Manager

The theatre are in the process of finalising the schedule for next year and their Box Office team will then be contacting everyone who has booked tickets for Beauty and the Beast as soon as possible with options to transfer your booking to 2021; you may wish to review your booking and other options including refunds and credit towards tickets for other shows will be also be available. In the meantime please bear with them and thank you for your support and patience.

—————————————————————————————————————————————————-

Come and join us for Falkirk’s magical family pantomime, Beauty and the Beast this festive season.

Beauty and the Beast has all the ingredients for a magical trip to the theatre, with hilarious slapstick humour, plenty of audience interaction and marvellous musical numbers that you will be singing for days afterwards, all in one magical show that is suitable for everyone to enjoy whether they are 3 or 103!

Beauty and the Beast will be sure to make you laugh, cry and fall in love with a host of hilarious and hairy
characters - so book your tickets now for a fun filled panto, and to discover if Beauty can see beyond appearances and learn to love a beast!

Beauty & the Beast runs from Friday 11th - Wednesday 30th December 2020.

Pantomime is back at Fairfield Halls and it’s going to be a Beauty of a panto and a Beast of a show!

——————————————————————————————————————————

Announcement from Fairfield Halls - 10th August 2020

Beauty and the Beast - Pantomime - Rescheduled to 2021

Afternoon all, after lots of discussions with our friends at Imagine Theatre, it is with much sadness that we have had to make the difficult decision to postpone this year’s festive pantomime at Fairfield Halls - Beauty and the Beast. The good news though is that this amazing show will be back in 2021 – oh yes it will!

We’ll be in touch with ticket holders to transfer bookings over to the new dates and look forward to announcing cast details as soon as we can.

——————————————————————————————————————————

The show tells the story of a Prince who is cursed by an Enchantress and turned into a Hairy Beast, will he find true love and reverse the curse? Will village girl Belle be able to see his true heart under his beastly appearance? All will be revealed. Featuring all the ingredients of a traditional pantomime including big song and dance numbers, side-splitting comedy, lots of audience participation and a huge sprinkling of pantomime magic this is a show that will delight young and old.

Star cast still to be announced. Be sure to book your tickets before the last petal of the rose falls!

Beauty & the Beast runs from Tuesday 8th December - Sunday 3rd January 2021.

Box Office:

8th September 2020 - Beauty and the Beast has now been postponed until 2021

We regret to confirm that our 2020 pantomime, Beauty and the Beast, has now been postponed until 2021. This difficult decision has been reached due to the impact of ongoing restrictions on indoor performances.

We are now in the process of contacting everyone who has booked tickets, and would like to ask for people’s patience and understanding as we manage this process with a reduced staff.

If you have purchased tickets for the show, please check your email inbox for further communications from us. Please note that box office phone lines remain closed while our staff continue to work remotely.

Belgrade Theatre Artistic Director Hamish Glen said:

“We’re obviously disappointed to have had to make this decision. Christmas is a special time at the Belgrade, and it’s always a pleasure to see families, friends and audiences of all ages coming together to share in the magic of panto.

“The good news is that we have already rescheduled Beauty and the Beast for 2021 and we’re incredibly grateful for the continued understanding, loyalty and support of our audiences, almost all of whom have been happy to transfer their bookings to next year’s dates. We look forward to welcoming you all back for a really exciting year in 2021, as we reunite to celebrate both the end of lockdown and Coventry’s year as City of Culture.”

—————————————————————————————————————-

The pantomime this year at The Belgrade Theatre in Coventry will be Beauty and the Beast.

This enchanting tale of heroic adventure, true love, messy mayhem and festive frivolity is destined to be the most beautiful and beastly yet!

Once upon a time in a land far away there was a handsome but selfish young prince. He fell foul of an evil sorceress and was doomed to spend the next 500 years hidden in his castle in the guise of a grotesque beast. Could anyone ever love such a beast and unlock the cruel spell?

Make-believe, music and lots of magic fun means a “beauty-full” Christmas treat for all the family!

Beauty and the Beast will run from Wednesday 25th November 2020 - Saturday 9th January 2021.

This year’s ‘beauty’ of a panto at The Victoria Theatre in Halifax is Beauty and the Beast.

A conceited Prince gets cursed and spends 500 years trapped in a castle as a Beast. The arrival of a beautiful, intelligent and feisty young woman offers the possibility of the curse being lifted, but she can learn to see beyond appearances and learn to love a Beast?

The show runs from Saturday 14 December 2019 until Sunday 5 January 2020

Reviews

If you are after a traditional Pantomime with slapstick humour, up to date songs that kids know and love along with a show that sticks to the storyline rather than deviate to let some big star do his bit, then this is the one for you.
— The Yorkshire Times
Beauty & the Beast is exactly what a panto should be – good clean fun, with plenty of opportunities to practice your “oh no he didn’t” and “he’s behind you” skills, with lots and lots of laughs

Reviews

Imagine Theatre’s production is another triumph for the panto-makers, returning to Inverness for another year of festive frolics, as they find an adroit balance between the story’s romantic, fantastical core and the cream-throwing, pun-slinging, villain-booing trappings of the medium.
— Kyle Walker - What's on North
My ears are still ringing from the noise of the screams which came from the excited youngsters in the audience, but that noise is music to the cast of Beauty and the Beast.
The louder they scream, the more they know they’ve got the script right
